After a night out downtown, Binghamton Hots is known as a popular spot for students to satisfy their post-bar cravings. Little did I know, Binghamton Hots is far more than just a late night alternative to pizza or Night Owl. You can feed a college student anything after 3 am and you can count on it being devoured, but this restaurant is more deserving than a 3 am visit and the perfect time to make the trip is Restaurant Week. Don’t think that Hots isn’t worthy of consideration for restaurant week? Well, for $10, Hots will give you the option to choose any of the meals below and more for a three course meal. Let me repeat. Ten dollars, three courses. Here’s some of the best options:

Pear, Pecan and Gorgonzola Salad
Romaine lettuce, glazed pecans, red onions, Gorgonzola crumbles, sliced pear and Dijon vinaigrette

This salad option for the first course has disproved my assumption that salads are a boring, healthy, tasteless choice and proved that it is possible to actually be exciting. The delicious glazed pecans along with the craisins and gorgonzola cheese made for a perfectly tasty combination.

Pulled Pork Sandwich Slow Cooked on a Kaiser Roll With Macaroni Salad

This savory sandwich is simply the pork and bread but that is all this baby requires. The macaroni salad is an extra bonus.

Hot’s Bacon Cheese Burger With Fries

This beauty is a Hot’s classic and makes for one of the best Burgers in Binghamton. With fries that are crisp and delicious, this meal demands your satisfaction.

To top it all off for dessert you have an option of a Strawberry Glazed Fudge Brownie. Yum.

When I walked out the door I was more than satisfied after the Hot’s bacon cheeseburger, pulled pork sandwich and salad that blew my mind. I am pretty confident that you could order anything off the menu and it would please the your buds. Hots is conveniently located on 128 Washington Street, just a block away from the bars on State Street. With great food for the price and friendly service, I recommend taking advantage of the Binghamton Hots experience this Restaurant Week.

Address: 128 Washington Street, Binghamton, NY 13901

A special thanks to Binghamton Hots for providing us a Restaurant Week tasting for this review.

Recap: Spoon Binghamton Launch Party

Last Saturday afternoon, the Mohawk Great Room played host to the official Launch Party for the Binghamton Chapter of Spoon. Over 150 guests attended and were able to sample food from local Binghamton Restaurants. Vendors included Long Feng, Starbucks, Chipotle and more.

Maryam’s Halal kept dishes hot and bellies full while serving up traditional Halal style chicken and lamb over rice. Newly opened Asian cuisine restaurant, Wok n’ Roll (located conveniently in the plaza off of Bunn Hill Road) served up lo mien and other favorites. For those who had a hankering for a college food essential, Fat Boys Pizza was there to serve up pizza and wings.

When patrons weren’t waiting to sample the various food offerings, student groups including Taste Buds, a club dedicated to exploring the culinary arts and mastering kitchen cooking techniques, served up new takes on classic snacks including, sparkling jello shots and green tea flavored rice krispy treats, which were super delicious. The Food Co-op was also there selling delicious organic chocolate bars. Acoustic musical stylings were provided by singer Gabe Sierra and guitarist Chris Sta. Romana.

If free food wasn’t enough to keep mouths watering and bellies full, contests including a spaghetti and marshmallow building competition, whipping cream contest and an apple peeling race provided the chance to win gift cards to Moghul’s, Binghamton Hots, Kampai Japanese Steakhouse, Basha’s and more. From the stacks of discarded plates and cups that scattered the room, the Binghamton Spoon University Launch Party was certainly an event that wasn’t to be missed!

A special thanks to all the participating vendors:

Chipotle
Starbucks
Maryam’s Halal
Wok n’ Roll
Basha’s Lebanese Grill
Long Feng
Kampai Japanese Steakhouse
Zona & Co Grille
Fat Boys
Moghul’s Fine Indian Cuisine
Binghamton Hots
