Dragos Axinte, the founder and CEO of cachaça brand Novo Fogo, describes the pride that his country takes in its indigenous spirit. “Brazil has embraced cachaça so much that the rest of the world is taking notice,” he says. “Cachaça, though not yet as popular in the U.S. as it has the potential to be, is one of the most consumed spirits in the world.”
Novo Fogo’s Chameleon expression, used in this Buck variation, is aged in used bourbon barrels for one year, imparting subtle hints of vanilla and oak that accentuate the citrusy character of the spirit.
- 1 1/2 ounces Novo Fogo Chameleon cachaça
- 4 ounces ginger beer
- 1 squeeze fresh lime
- 2 dashes aromatic bitters
- Garnish: lime slice
- Garnish: ginger peel
Add all ingredients into a highball glass over ice and stir to combine.
Garnish with a lime slice and ginger peel.
Serve with a straw.
